What is tumor cervical?

Cervical tumor starts in a woman’s cervix, which is the lower, narrow part of the uterus. The uterus holds the growing fetus during pregnancy. The cervix connects the lower part of the uterus to the vagina and with the vagina, forms the birth canal.

Cervical tumor is begins when normal cells on the surface of cervix change and grow uncontrollably, forming a mass called a tumor. A tumor can be cancerous or benign. A cancerous tumor called as malignant which mean it can spread to other parts of the body.

What is symptom of cervical tumor?

Early changes in cervical cells rarely cause symptoms. If early cell changes develop into cervical tumor, the most common signs include:

  • Bleeding after intercourse
  • Excessive tiredness
  • Leg pain or swelling
  • Low back pain
  • Menstrual bleeding that is longer or heavier than usual.
  • Pain during intercourse
  • Unusual vaginal discharge
  • Vaginal bleeding between periods
  • Vaginal bleeding after menopause.

What is risk factor of cervical tumor?
    • Pregnancy

Women who have had three or more full-term pregnancies, or who had their first full-term pregnancy before age 17, are twice as likely to get cervical tumor.

    • Family History

It is increase the risk about two or three times likely to develop cervical tumor if women with a sister or mother who had cervical tumor.

    • Sexual History

Sexual behavior includes sex before age 18, sex with multiple partners and sex with someone who has had multiple partner is increase the risk of cervical tumor.

    • Smoking

For those women who smoke it is double her risk of cervical tumor.

    • Oral contraceptive use

Women who take oral contraceptives for more than five years have an increased risk of cervical tumor.

    • Weakened immune system

People with HIV or other health conditions or who take medications that limit the body’s ability to fight off infection have a higher risk of developing cervical tumor.

    • HPV

Not all the people have the HPV infection will get the cervical tumor. The majorities of women who contract HPV clear the virus or have treatment so the abnormal cells are removed. HPV is a skin infection, spread through skin to skin contact with a person who has the virus.
